February, by Britta Benson

Today’s poem is a direct response to Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt. The challenge: write a poem or piece of prose in exactly 42 words, inspired by ‘Flummox’ https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/20204174/posts/3812876893.

Here’s my little piece. I gave it the title February, which is word number 43 and completely optional…

February

Thunder and lightening,

snow, sleet, slush, mush, hail.

The x, the why?

Perhaps,

evil weather gods

left all decision making

to hormonally challenged,

confused, overwhelmed

teenagers and their moody

menopausal mothers.

Flora flummoxed,

pens, paper perplex.

February,

the shortest,

the longest prelude.

    1. I love this analogy! February is like 28 Tuesdays in a row! And in a leap year, 29 expletives in a row? It is a difficult month to stomach. Six days down, far too many still to come. Stay strong, Keith. March will come. Not a moment too soon. Thanks for reading and commenting. Much appreciated.
