Farewell, by Britta Benson

This poem has been prompted by the Five Word Challenge on ‘The Procrastinators’ website. The five words were: Farewell, shower, protect, eye, blue. https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/114832769/posts/3815408876

Farewell

Farewell,

fare badly,

experience the lot.

Sunshine and showers,

autumn leaves and spring flowers,

somewhere between bluebells and snowdrops,

get lost, found, meander.

Farewell,

fare badly,

wander,

keep your eyes on the prize: Life!

Don’t hide in the dark

for fear of getting your heart wet.

Dance. Start now, clock up wonders,

just in case your tomorrow never comes.

Protect your kindness

with your wildest generosity,

harbour friendships

in every possible nook and cranny,

even the bottomless pits of your soul,

this will shelter you.

Always.

    1. Thank you so much, Stephanie. Thanks for reading and commenting. I love playing with sounds and also responding to other people’s prompts. Never thought I could fit those five words into one poem that still made sense.
