The good life, by Britta Benson

Here’s my response to Brian Vos’s Weekly Poetry Prompt on

This week’s prompt: ‘The good life’. You can find the original blog post here:

The good life

Enough, fits in any odd space,

squint walls, darned socks, no probs.

You, me, an open sky, blue or whatever,

the Earth, failing this, my garden,

daisies and dandelions,

no hothoused beauties here,

just resilient souls,

singing their song.

Perfect, on the other hand,

belongs on flat, glossy pages,

straightened by a guillotine,

and doesn’t live here any more.

Welcome to the good life.
