This is my response to Brian Vos’s Weekly Poetry Prompt. This week’s challenge: write a poem about the fleeting nature of beauty. Brian suggested haiku as the form. Here’s the link to the full prompt:

I jotted down quite a lot of notes, before scoring out most of them. Haiku is always a challenge for me. A welcome challenge. It forces me to throw out the surplus, to declutter my poem right to the bone and I like that a lot. So, here goes:


Strong fingers trace skin.

Mine? Yours? This landscape, our life.

I witness. We change.

    1. Thank you so much, Anne. I guess, reading all your haiku got me in the mood… I never used to be much of a haiku writer, but I enjoy reading your take on the form.
