Here’s my response to Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt. This week: Zest, in 41 words. Here’s the link to the original blog post:

I usually try to take the prompt as far away from the literal meaning of the word as possible.

This time round, I stuck closer to the core… or, did I?


Less than the whole

and still so much more!

No nonsense concentrate,

wizened, almost weightless abundance:

life beyond watery fillers.

Unexplainable riches of summer’s sun

packed into dried, flavoursome rind,

kept smooth by essential oils.

Poetry, cut and scraped to perfection.
