Here’s my response to Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt. This week: Zest, in 41 words. Here’s the link to the original blog post: https://sammiscribbles.wordpress.com/2022/06/04/weekend-writing-prompt-262-zest/
I usually try to take the prompt as far away from the literal meaning of the word as possible.
This time round, I stuck closer to the core… or, did I?
Zest
Less than the whole
and still so much more!
No nonsense concentrate,
wizened, almost weightless abundance:
life beyond watery fillers.
Unexplainable riches of summer’s sun
packed into dried, flavoursome rind,
kept smooth by essential oils.
Poetry, cut and scraped to perfection.
I can smell this post!

Well, I guess, in the case of zest, that’s not a bad thing…

If we could invent a Twitter with smell shall we call it Smitter?

For a very brief moment I imagined the realities of your ‘Smitter’, oh, please, no. NO. Wouldn’t want smellyvision either.

When I got to the last line, a re-read was called for. Excellent metaphor. Well done, Britta.
