Ambitious, by Britta Benson

Photo by MESSALA CIULLA on Pexels.com

This wee poem was inspired by yesterday’s Moonwashed Challenge. Theme: Ambitious. Here’s the link to the full blog post: https://amanpan.blog/2022/08/23/moonwashed-challenge-ambitious-august-23-2022/.

Ambitious

Counting hours, years, words,
fingers won’t suffice.
Cold,
rain,
cold.
How many lines does it take
to forget the old?
Be kind to paper.
Trees bear witness with practised stoicism,
but won’t take on shame or guilt.
Forever… such a very long time.

  1. Oh, so well done, Britta! Your piece brings to mind a quote I just used in one of my posts – “Trees are poems the earth writes upon the sky, We fell them down and turn them into paper, That we may record our emptiness.” ― Kahlil Gibran

Thank you so much for joining in.
